Inequitable practices, attitudes, and beliefs are seldom addressed openly in the workplace, but coachees often reveal these issues during confidential coaching sessions. After coaches learn how to spot signs of inequity in their coaching conversations, they must learn how to coach for equity. Coaches are uniquely positioned to serve as disruptors of the hegemonic scripts that so powerfully derail the transformation of inequitable practices in organizations. Well-trained leaders and coaches can interject a level of thoughtful, and often disruptive, inquiry into interpersonal and district-level conversations. (Burke, 2020).
