Bridging the Profession of Coaching with Educational Coaching.
Dr. Norwood is a Pre-K-12 national educational consultant, trainer, master certified coach and co-founder of Coaches Evolve and director and creator of the International Academy of Professional Coaching (ICF Accreditation-Level 2). Dr. Norwood earned her doctorate from Fielding Graduate University in Educational Leadership and Change and she holds a Master of Education in Professional Development, with emphasis on English Learners (EL) and Administration. In addition, the HeartMath Institute has licensed Dr. Norwood as a HeartMath® Certified Trainer.
Working in the field of Education for 38 years, Dr. Norwood’s teaching, consulting, and leadership coaching experience ranges from preschool to doctoral level education. She teaches in the Evidence-Based Coaching Program for Fielding Graduate University, the Leadership Coaching Cohort (LCC) in Organizational Dynamics at University of Pennsylvania, and provided Leadership Coaching for The New Teacher Project (TNTP). She has worked within a broad spectrum of educational settings, from the hills of Puerto Rico to rural Hawaii, to a Russian strand of dual language educators in Oregon, to the Deep South where some schools are still segregated, to urban districts in California and Oregon where educators experience a wide diversity of student native languages and cultures, and the effects of deep poverty.

Dr. Norwood’s experience has uniquely prepared her to help leaders and coaches identify, address, and transform inequity in educational settings. Dr. Norwood leads 2- and 3-day workshops on transformational coaching for educational leaders and coaches throughout the nation. She also contracts for one-on-one coaching with leaders and coaches within individual school districts.
Dr. Norwood recently launched the International Academy of Professional Coaching. Her goal is to nurture a new generation of transformational leader/coaches who have the depth and breadth of preparation to meet not only the rigorous standards for professional International Coach Federation (ICF) certification, but also the even more rigorous challenges facing educators every day. She aims to ignite educators’ passion to practice their profession with heart and soul.
Together with Dr. Mary Ann Burke, Dr. Norwood co-authored Chapter 15, “Chasing the Shadow: Coaching for Equity in Education,” and Chapter 16, “Beautiful Form Watcher: Coaching for Equity in Education,” in Innovations in Leadership Coaching: Research and Practice, Santa Barbara, CA: Fielding University Press, 2020.
